Private Lessons: $50/h (available in both 1 hour and 1/2 hour lessons)
Chamber participation: $25 (once per semester fee, must be in some form of music lessons)
Coachings: $10/session (biweekly, 45 min, must be in lessons)
Technique class: $10/session (once a week, 45 minutes, available to non-lesson students)
Private Lessons
Private lessons consist of a weekly, one-on-one instruction session with the student. During this time, the instructor works with the student to ensure that they are developing proper technique and are keeping up with their orchestra music. Lessons are available during orchestra time and outside of school hours. As the student progresses and builds a stronger foundation, solo pieces are introduced. With the expansion of the Braswell Music Program, we hope to hold student concerts next year to showcase all of the hard work and wonderful music making of the students.
Chamber Music
The chamber music program consists of a biweekly, group coaching session. The session is geared towards teaching students how to successfully communicate with each other musically and how to properly rehearse/practice. Each semester there will be a performance showcasing the groups and their pieces. While there is a set list of repertoire that we use for the course, the groups are given the chance to perform one piece of their choosing per semester (within reason, no freebird). The groups are determined by the number of students interested and the variety of their chosen instruments. All instruments are welcome! Students are also strongly encouraged to form their own groups!
Technique Class (Currently violin/viola only)
The technique class consists of a weekly group session where students are taught the fundamental techniques needed to successfully play their instruments. The year progresses from doing group scales and basic exercises early on, to advanced shifting and bow techniques by the end of the year. This course greatly aides the student's ability to quickly and accurately learn music. This course is strongly encouraged for all orchestra players. We are currently working on setting up a course for the cellos and the basses.
